Weddings are joyous events and every single bride out there will want her own wedding to be magical. And when it comes to hosting it, few would choose to actually organize their wedding on Halloween. Believe it or not, this is an increasingly popular trend, and not for one reason only. You don’t have to be a Goth Metal fan to like the idea of a Halloween wedding, but you do have to love the holiday itself. Hosting a Halloween wedding comes with many great things and it can be extremely fun, but you really want to make sure that this is what you want to do. If you want to find out more about weddings hosted on Halloween, do read on.
Why Would You Do It?
Halloween weddings can turn into huge fun both for the bride and the groom and for the guests. It may sound like a very crazy idea at first, but in truth it is a very unique and original one and your guests will definitely appreciate it. If you are the kind that likes standing out from the crowd, then organizing such a wedding will be the perfect way to add that “special something” to it.
Halloween weddings are still pretty rare (even if their numbers is increasing), which means that your wedding will actually be remembered a long time from now on if you do choose to throw it on the 31st of October. Your guests will not forget a wedding where they were served with spider punch, where the cake was a huge pumpkin and where they came dressed as vampires, werewolves and X-Men characters.
Weddings can be quite stressful to organize, and Halloween weddings will not make much of an exception when it comes to this part. However, it can be much more entertaining and fun to throw such a party for your wedding because you will get the chance to choose a lot of fun things for it, from food to decorations.
Furthermore, it is unlikely that you can go over the top with a Halloween wedding. You can choose to organize a Halloween wedding with a Venetian masquerade ball, of course, but you can go for the “kitschy” version as well. It really doesn’t matter how much plastic, fake pumpkins and fake spider webs you will have at this party, since this is very Halloween-like anyway.
A Halloween party for the wedding also means that you get the chance to dress up as crazy as you want to. Ever dreamed of a red or black-laced wedding dress? By throwing your Halloween wedding party, nobody will think it is odd that the bride chose to dress in black!
Last, but not least, if you are even thinking of organizing your wedding on Halloween, you are probably very much in love with this holiday, which also means that you most likely throw parties every year. By throwing your wedding party at the same time with your Halloween one, you will be able to shoot two birds at once, which can be great.
How to Do It?
Like with every wedding out there, you will have to think things through and to plan well ahead of time if you want everything to turn out perfect. Start thinking of your wedding party at least one year before the actual date.
Start by choosing the perfect place. An old house, a luxurious gothic-like hotel or a place that has an antique feeling to it could work very well. It may cost a bit more than an average hotel reception room, but it will definitely be worth it.
Also, make sure that you choose the right decorations and that everything will go with the theme. You can use dried flowers instead of fresh ones, you can use pumpkin table placements and you can simply allow your creativity to run freely. Also, going for bold orange, black and red colors will go very well with the Halloween theme as well.
Last, but not least, think of Halloween food as well. A cake with little ghosts in it or with spooky bride and groom ornaments can be a great idea, but every single item on the menu can be “scary” as well. Again, allow your imagination to go wild because the number of options you have is almost unlimited!
