One day I had to take one of my babes (a 2 yr. old girl) to the hospital to undergo surgery. Tubes had to be put in her ears for drainage in response to a chronic ear infection. This is a fairly routine procedure in the REAL WORLD, but this is a nightmare! I was with a small group of family and friends entering the hospital when, by the reception desk, I saw an old boyfriend. I stopped to chat with him while my mom took my baby girl on to the operating room for surgery. After we'd chatted, I realized that I had to go to my daughter! But during the time my x-boyfriend and I spent talking, the crowd in the hospital had greatly multiplied. Suddenly, there were hundreds of family members and friends, and also strangers, crowded around the operating table. I tried to approach the table, but everyone kept pushing me back. I started elbowing and spitting and cussing, eventually getting to the front of the crowd. Once I got there, to my horror, I saw my little baby on the table and the doctor, right above her, wielding a huge, 4-foot circular saw! He proceeded to start up the engine on that sucker and a loud buzzing sound filled the room! My mouth filled with vomit and I couldn't shout or tell him to STOP! He kept penetrating her soft baby flesh, going through her yielding bones, and blood was squirting everywhere! When I turned away to look for my mother, I saw that the whole crowd was just watching, expressionless; like they were watching a boring commercial on TV! I was so indecisive - I had to stay there as my baby needed me, but I had to escape the sound of the saw, the frighteningly nonplused crowd, and the vomit was now coming out of my nose. But when I looked behind me for the exit door, I saw it was blocked by my ex-husband. His skin was white and slimy, and his face was bright red with his eyeballs popping out. He was looking right at me with hateful, ice-like eyes and he was enraged! I noticed that he had an ancient Samurai sword and was coming my way! I dove into the crowd, but when I looked behind me, he was right there. Then, in a startling turn of events, the crowd just parted, leaving a big hole with just me and him in the center. As he cut through the air with his sword, and laughing an evil laugh, I tried to back up, but the crowd pushed me back in the room. With one swift swoop of his sword, he sliced off the end of my arm which was up in the air in a defensive posture. Blood was now pouring out of my amputated arm stump! I then put my other arm up and he, still laughing, brought the tip of the sword to my jugular and says, "you've been asking for this, bitch!" Just as he was about to thrust, I woke up screaming! (then I went to check on my babe).

My worst nightmare has always haunted me like a ghost. I never experienced this dream more than once, but once was enough for me. I was in a restaurant somewhere in the mountains. I was there to meet and have lunch with my mom. As I sat down, I felt very uneasy, so I told my mom that I thought we should leave the restaurant and go outside. We arose and left the table. When we got outside I looked up at the sky; it was dark and gloomy. That day was supposed to be beautiful, so it was frightening to me. When I turned around, everybody from the restaurant had also come outside to look at the sky. We were, all of us, fascinated by its unusual glowing colors, yet I was scared at the same time. Everyone bunched into a crowd to watch the sky. I then looked down a hill-like road with fear now infesting my body like a disease. As I gazed down the hill, I saw a fire start. It spread so fast that when I turned to scream, everyone around me was burning! I reached out for my mom and noticed that my arm was on fire! My mother was no where to be seen. I started crying when I realized that it was the end of the world. I didn't want to see my mother die, or anyone around me. I woke up in tears and a cold sweat. I have now become fearful that the world will soon end as foretold and predicted. I hope not...

My worst nightmare is a consequence from the death of my parents. My parents were brutally murdered about a year ago. At least once a week, I see myself in an airplane with my mom, dad, and the murderer. The rest of the people on the plane act as if they know that they are already looking into the face of death. My mom and dad have blood coming out of their eyes, nose, ears, and almost every other hole in their body. They just keep looking at me with no expression on their faces. The man that brutally raped and strangled my mother, and who also sliced my dad open until he was holding his insides in his own hands, just keeps staring at me with these cold and dark eyes. I try to get up, but I can't. My legs are paralyzed and I don't know why. I then begin to pull myself along using all of my arm strength. I make it to far end of the airplane, far away from him! He just keeps staring at me. My parents also keep staring. They act as if they don't even see him. The murderer slowly rises from his seat and walks over to my parents and crushes their faces in with one blow. He then walks over to me, still displaying a cold, heartless expression. I try to fight him, but his strength overwhelms me. I use my thumbs and gouge his eyes into the back of his skull. He acts like it doesn't even hurt! He begins to laugh at me. He then pulls a knife out of his back pocket and, just as he is beginning to cut my throat, I wake up sweating and screaming at the top of my lungs!

Many children have reoccurring nightmares, sometimes painful and disturbing. My nightmare, based on a true account, has haunted me since I was 5 years old. The last time I had this nightmare was less than a year ago. I'm now 36 years old
I slowly drew the fridge door open and squinted as the light from its door pierced the darkness. It was late and I was desperately searching for a late night snack to tide me over till morning. The house was abnormally quiet that night. I could usually hear the gentle whir of the electronic clock above the stove. But not that night. I heard a tap on the rooftop, followed by another. Rain began to dance on the shingles, and the trees seemed to whisper as a breeze careened through their branches. I remember smiling to myself - I have always loved a summer rainstorm. Food in hand, still half blind in the darkness, I fumbled through the house, making my way back to my bedroom. As I settled into bed and pulled my warm comforter over me, I felt crumbs from my sandwich fall to the sheets. I just laughed to myself, I was both too hungry and tired to care. Suddenly, the darkness of my bedroom was interrupted by a flash of lightning, illuminating my room through a nearby window. I was overwhelmed with a feeling of fear and I felt my flesh grow cold as I heard branches angrily scratching the glass from my window. I pulled the comforter over my head and paused for a brief moment. 'What a fool I am,' I said out loud.' 'Afraid of nature's temper tantrum and a few noises in the rainstorm - and at my age!' The trees still seemed to whisper and I thought I heard my name. Did I hear a voice, or was fear playing some trick on my mind? 'Kevin,' I heard, weakly at first, as though someone was calling me from a distance. My heart pounded and I instinctively drew the comforter tightly around me, my body shaking with fear. 'Kevin,' the voice called to me again, louder this time and more insistent. 'Not again, please God, not again,' I whimpered softly. My heart was aching, racing and I felt as though it would surely explode. Fearfully, I peered out from under the comforter and gazed towards the window. To my horror, I saw a face, horribly disfigured, staring back at me. I threw off the comforter and dashed towards the doorway. I knew if I could escape my room, I could be free from the horrible face in the window. In a split second, just before I reached the doorway, I heard the shattering sound of broken glass. Nearly frozen with fear, I turned towards the window, and gasped as I realized the creature was in the room with me. I groped for the doorway, where I thought it was anyway. To my horror, the door was no longer there, replaced by smooth and cold rock. I touched the wall and quickly recoiled. A slimy substance was oozing down the walls, with an odor that made me feel physically ill. I could hear the creature breathing and knew it was watching me, stalking me, waiting to strike. I felt nauseous and began frantically groping along the wall, desperately seeking a doorway for escape. I realized there was no hope. I turned to face the evil in the hopes of defending myself. My fists raised and shaking, I awaited the creature's next move. I felt my legs shake as a loud scream pierced my ears. I felt a burning pain in my shoulders as the creature sprang towards me, sinking its claws deep into me. In the next moment, it pinned me against the wall with a force that shattered my bedposts, sending shards of brass everywhere. Warm blood poured down my chest as the creature sank its claws deeper in my shoulders. Blinded by fear, weak with pain - I could only hear and feel the creature, now inches away from me, its rancid breath hot on my face. In a raspy voice, it spoke to me saying, "It's time to die." I futilely struggled to break free of its grasp, but only felt more pain as it sank its claws in deeper to restrain me. I felt an agonizing pain overtake me as the creature broke my spine. I screamed again and again, but the louder I cried out, the tighter the creature's grip on my shoulders became. With a forceful lunge, it clamped its jaws on my throat and I heard the sickening sound of the tearing of my own flesh. The creature backed off of its bite and let out a chilling and triumphant scream. I began to choke on my own blood. Like the rain pouring on the rooftop, blood gushed from my wounds and I knew death would come quickly. I silently prayed, 'Please let it be over quickly.' In a last, feeble attempt to escape, I managed only to fall to the floor. With a final baneful scream, the creature lunged at me and I turned to face my certain doom. And with that final scream of agony, I woke up and sat, staring at my computer screen, sweat pouring down my body like rain. The storm had subsided and the branches of the trees had ceased their restless swaying. Shaken, I rose to my feet and headed for the doorway. I dropped to my knees as a sharp pain shot through my foot. I quickly grabbed my leg reached for the pain, discovering a small shard of glass embedded there. As I removed the glass, I heard the door groan in resistance and leaped back at the sound of something pounding angrily on the window's glass. Turning fearfully towards the window, I found myself eye to eye with a creature so hideous, it cannot be described. With an insidious grin, it turned and vanished into the darkness. | |||
