NightMare # Title#1
I was in my early twenties when I first dreamt this...

My father was lying limp on this cold, dull, black floor. I was kneeling over him, holding him in my arms. He was unconscious but didn't seem to be injured. The space around us was completely devoid of life and light. Except for where we were, it was totally dark and the air was eerily stale. The light that illuminated our presence came from above, although I couldn't see from where it emanated. It was like a spotlight. I was gently shaking my father, attempting to wake him. He was downright out of it though, not even a whimper.

That's when I became aware of the other inhabitants that menaced this dismal vacancy. Slowly and inexorably, out of the ebony gloom they shuffled. First from my left, then from behind and eventually from all directions, surrounded!. They looked like gargoyles! The brown, winged and leathery skinned creatures approached us, but did not attack. It appeared as if they were very interested in my father. They seemed to be studying him. One of them, and then two, and then one again, would get close to us, stare at my father, and then back off several feet. As each one of the drooling, sharp-toothed monsters drew near, I'd try to strike them with an open hand, but my swings were executed in very slow motion! The curious creatures easily evaded my feeble defensive attempts. I felt so damned weak and helpless! I couldn't protect my father! This goes on for several minutes until I make the realization that it was a dream. My wife wakes me, you see. She said I was crying in my sleep like a little puppy dog. I had the exact same dream on several occasions, each time it never ends, never has a conclusion.

At first, the dream may have been one of those arbitrary nightmares. Maybe that's why I continue to dream it; perhaps I'm looking for some closure to the phantasmagoric situation I created in the dream.

My nightmare, that still haunts me to this day was kind of silly, but it ruined watching my favorite childhood show. I was five years old. I had problems with my legs for years due to flat feet and my excruciating leg aches kept me up many a night. This night was like that. My slowness to get to sleep probably caused the dream. I found myself in a large playground, fences closing it in. My bed was in the center of the playground and it had grown bigger length wise, but it was shorter too. I got out of my bed and walked around. Then, over the fence jumped Ernie, of Sesame Street fame. But something was wrong, I could tell. I loved Sesame Street and Ernie, so I ignored the strangeness and went to hug Ernie. Suddenly his face turned dark blue and his eyes grew large and blood shot. I noticed the blood dripping from his mouth and the severed arm in his hands and the fact that there were no other children around. Ernie lunged toward me, but I was already turned around running. I tried to crawl under my bed, but it was too short now and I couldn't get all the way under it. Ernie started to giggle and slithered under the bed like a snake. He proceeded to eat my arms, stomach, and, just as he began eating my face; I woke up - half under my bed... I was never that fond of Sesame Street afterwards.

For as long as I can remember my dreams have always had water in them. Either a glass of water, a violent storm, or a calm ocean. Water was just always there! I always thought that I was going to drown in real life, but this gives me a different perspective on water. This dream makes me wonder - "Is this how I'm going to die?" Alone in the darkness and no one or anything else in sight, at my fifteen years of age I felt as though I was in a void of nothingness. Like even I was not there! From out of the blackness, as I stood there unaccompanied, appeared a little blond-haired girl. She looked at me and I looked at her. I said nothing, but she announced, "I'm going to be with you ...When you die that is." With that, she turned and vanished. I was then in an old Chevy pickup truck and at 20 something years of age. At my left was my so-called boyfriend. To my right was my beau's brown-haired ex-girlfriend. She was standing outside the truck with the passenger door open. The ex and my boyfriend were arguing over the fact that he was with me instead of her.. She wanted him back, but all he could say was that he loved me now. The ex slammed the door shut and walked to the front of the pickup. I watched, but did not say a word. It was as if I was paralyzed. Suddenly, a little car drove up and stopped. The ex opened the car's passenger door and pulled out a 12-guage shotgun! I could hear her mumble under her breath, "you'll be sorry you messed with me!" Before I knew what was happening, she pointed the shotgun at the engine of the truck and pulled the trigger! The truck then exploded! As I was catapulted out of my seat all I could think of was, "please, God, don't let it hurt when I hit the ground..." It didn't hurt much, but I wish that it had - because it was the last thing I ever felt... When I opened my eyes, I experienced peace and warmth. But too, there was something very strange. I realized I was situated under some water! I wouldn't have known this had I not noticed rays of light reflecting off of the walls holding the water. I looked around and once again thought I was alone. I was wrong. The person sharing this watery grave with me spoke knowingly, "See... I told you I was going to be with you when you died."

I first had this nightmare when I was 12 years old. It was a warm night and I woke up with a dry mouth about 2 a.m. or so. I got out of bed and started down the stairs to get a drink of water when I heard this weird noise! I went to check out what caused the sound and opened the door to my parents' room. There, on top of my mom and dad was this horrible looking "thing," sucking my parents' brains out! I started screaming at the top of my lungs, "GET OFF - GET OFF OF THEM!" But it was too late ...They were dead! I ran out of the room and slammed the door behind me. The brain-sucker burst through the closed door and ran after me! There was a big field behind my house so I ran out the back door hoping to elude the monster-thing. It was only about 10 feet behind me by now! I ran as fast as I could but I kept seeing my parents getting murdered and I just couldn't go on. I slowed and fell to my knees and the beast appeared before me, salivating and growling above my lowered head. I kept on trying to yell for help but nothing came out of my mouth! As I finally managed to extract a loud scream, it grabbed me! That's when I woke up screaming and covered in sweat.

I have this same dream about once a year. It really scares me and I dread going to sleep sometimes fearing I might dream it again. I'm 16 years old now and I'm still afraid of a dream!

NightMare # Title#5
My sister and I are conjoined twins. One night we were about to fall asleep when the lamp fell off the night stand. We didn't think much of it until our cat, who was sleeping at the end of our bed, jumped up and started hissing at the wall. Then he ran toward the door and meowed to be let out. We got scared and ran to open the door. It was shut tight and couldn't be opened. We screamed for our mom and dad who were sleeping in the other room. They never came. Suddenly we heard a terrible sound like someone was dying. We ran back to the bed and under the covers we went! About five minutes later everything stopped. We peeked out and a nasty face was looking at us! We screamed and were knocked out by something hard! The next thing we knew it was morning. We looked around but saw nothing but the cat who was fast asleep at the foot of our bed. We both wondered where our parents were. Turns out they were making breakfast downstairs.

So if there wasn't anything in our room, did this really happen or was it a dream? And will we ever know?
