I've had this dream twice that I can remember, and although I haven't dreamt it recently, I often ponder the dream's meaning...

I was sitting in a classroom, just like the one I used to attend when I was in the 6th grade. All of my friends were there as well as my old teacher. At first, everything seemed normal. Then I noticed that the classroom was in a bit of disrepair. There were holes in the walls and loose bricks were strewn all over the floor. The entire room was dirty, and it contained a musky, foul smelling odor. The teacher seemed oblivious to the clutter and just continued teaching away. Suddenly, the teacher became quiet. After a few moments, the teacher looked at us and said in a very mechanical tone of voice, "It's time to go." Confused, we all stood up and quickly exited the classroom. On my way out, I wondered why two of the kids still sat quietly at their desks. Shrugging it off, I walked down the hall until I reached my book locker. I thought it was odd that the usual chaos and talking that accompanied a class break was somehow missing. In fact, I remember thinking it was deathly quiet except for a few remarks by some of the kids. They kept murmuring, "It's time to go ... It's time to go." I asked, "Where are we going?" But no one answered. I then asked my friends, "Where are the two other kids? Why did they stay behind?" Still, no one would answer me. When we had gathered up all of our materials from our lockers, I expected to exit the school. Instead, everyone began lining up as if it were a fire drill or something. The teacher stood at the front of the line and I approached her to once again inquire as to the status of my two classmates that had stayed in the room. She turned, looked at me with this far off stare and replied, "It's time to go." She then lead the line of kids down the stairs and out the door. I was really getting freaked out! I decided to take matters into my own hands and proceeded to return to the classroom to check on my two classmates. When I entered the room, I saw my mates sitting in the middle of the floor. They had cleared away the debris that littered the ground and appeared to be writing something on the floor. I slowly walked over to them and politely asked, "Are you guys coming? We have to go." Neither of them even acknowledged my presence. As I started to ask them again, at the same time I leaned in closer to see what they were writing . "What the hell?" I yelled. It looked like they had sliced their wrists with pencil tips and were writing the names of all of my classmates, along with some strange symbols next to each name, in deep red blood! They then looked up at me and began laughing! Slowly at first, then the laughs became frantic and bellowing. They sounded like a couple of hyenas on a caffeine high! I ran out of the room and down the hall. When I finally exited the school, I saw that the whole neighborhood was in shambles. It looked like we were hit by a nuclear bomb or something! Everything was devastated! My class was still walking down the street in a line, lead by my teacher. They seemed normal, like nothing happened. As I left the school grounds, I turned to glance back at the school and saw the two kids looking out of the classroom window. They were screaming and laughing hysterically. To my horror, standing just behind them was this humongous, dark, misty-like creature. It was somewhat transparent, but had glowing red eyes that seemed to be pulsating. It raised its burly arms, opened its gnarled mouth, and let out a terrible throaty demonic scream!

That's when I woke up. I had a hard time sleeping for two days after this dream. Like I said, I only had the dream twice, but it bothers me to this day. Even while writing this, the hairs on the back of my neck are standing on end!

NightMare # Title#2
I've always had dreams in which I would die or get badly injured, but this was a dream I had never expected to happen to me. It's what I categorize as a lucid dream: a dream in which your conscience knows that you're dreaming and consequently, you're sometimes able to control the variables in the dream at will. Though I've been having these types of dreams for a long while now, this dream was one in which I suddenly lost control and my subconscious mind took over with a dispassionate resolve.

...A thick fog hangs over a dimly lite forest and I am blindly trying to make my way through it. To what end, I do not know. In my hands, I hold a large caliber slide action rifle, and I somehow know I'll have to use it to defend myself. I check my ammo reserve and, with legs weak and trembling, I continue moving slowly through the eerie woodland expanse. I can hear something moving behind me, stalking me. In a panicked reflex, I quickly swing around, raising my rifle to my shoulder! I see nothing, but I hear the distinct sound of someone breathing in the darkness. As is typical of one justifying the unknown with certain thoughts, I speculate, "Can the wind make those sounds?" I return to my trek through the now less dense trees, still hearing occasional rustlings following close behind. Finally, I reach the outskirts of the forrest and to my surprise, I'm walking into my own neighborhood. The thick, wet fog is still present and shrouds the streets from all directions. I momentarily reflect on how good the cool mist feels on my sweat covered forehead. Although apprehensive, I feel compelled to press onward. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, a large vicious dog dashes toward me! I can clearly see it's a dog, but it's at least twice the size of any dog I've ever seen! It looks more like one of those California grizzly bears, including numerous, sharp chomping teeth. It growls and salivates increasingly as it draws nearer to my position! I have no doubt that if I don't do something quickly, I'll end up as its next meal. Almost on top of me, it lunges toward my throat, mouth wide open! At the same time, I raise my polished rifle and instinctively fire a fatal round right between the animal's raging eyes! The creature falls lifelessly to the ground and, without hesitation, I run up the street in search of safety. I am followed by three more rampaging beasts, angry at the loss of one of their pack and ostensibly larger than the one I just shot! It seems like the faster I run, the slower I go! I see a house appear from the dissipating fog and run toward it. Strangely, the door is not locked and I proceed to open it and jump inside! I bolt the door, press my ear up against it, and listen intently for my perusers. Startled, I then feel the warm comfort of a gentle touch of someone's hand resting on my shoulder. As I cock my head to examine it, I notice its smooth lines and soft appearance. I turn with confidence to discover the hand's owner and am pleased to see a beautiful young girl standing before me. Without a word, she leans forward and briefly kisses me on the lips, then stating with a smile, "They're just loose dogs..."

At this point, I wake up. The lucid dream has somehow come to an end. Still groggy, I notice it's only three o'clock in the morning, so I fluff my pillow, get comfortable, relive the dream I just experienced, and try to fade off back to sleep. Just as I begin to drift into "half-sleep" I hear a tapping on my bedroom window. This wasn't a dream, it was real. I am frightened. I am trying to muster up enough courage to look out of the window when I hear the flapping of tiny wings. "It's just a bird..." I whisper to myself. Relieved, I resume my incomplete slumber. My dream continues... I'm in bed. I'm not wearing any clothes and the girl from the first part of the dream is standing in the doorway. Her womanly silhouette is highlighted by the hall light shining behind her. She smiles at me and leisurely walks into what looks to be the bathroom, letting her sheer white robe fall to the floor as she exits. I feel exhilaration by the thought that we might have sex! I have never experienced a dream where I actually had sex, so I'm pretty confused by the whole concept. Suddenly, I once more hear a tapping on my bedroom window! Thinking it's that pesky little bird again, I get out of bed, open the window, lean out and look for the bird. That's not quite what I find however. I see a large, sort of translucent green, slobbering, savage monster, reaching around my neck with a pair of powerful, dry and pockmarked hands! It begins to strangle me! In my dreams, this creature bears the name "Frightmare." I know I have lost control over the dream because I would usually put up a fight, but did not in this instance. I feel the life being drained right out of me! I hear some of the tiny bones in my neck cracking as I struggle to breathe! I am helpless! I see multitudes of images from my life in my mind's eye! I am dead! After several moments of waiting, the heartless slayer carries me over to my bed and lays me on top of the covers. It closes my shocked and wide-opened eyes with a pass by one of its murdering hands. I look as if I am only sleeping. Methodically, silently, Frightmare then removes all of the strangulation marks welting around my neck by another pass of its hand. It then leaves the room through the open window, stopping to close it after exiting, and disappears into the night. I feel Frightmare will be searching for other helpless victims by which it derives its power. As I lay dead, I see the beautiful girl walk back into the bedroom from the bathroom. She is bare naked and pauses to observe me lying in bed. Thinking I am fast asleep, she slips into bed with me, kisses me lightly on the cheek, and goes to sleep herself.

That's it! I can't place the girl. I don't recall seeing her ever before. This was one of several erotic dreams I've had and it wasn't very pleasant for me. Frightmare is an old friend of mine who has appeared in more than five dreams now. And the dogs? For now they're still loose in the woods of my mind. I don't know when I'll meet them again ...Hopefully never!

NightMare # Title#3
I have a lot of dreams, but the ones that occur the most are usually about evil...

I'm in a vast rocky area with jagged, snow-capped mountains. Surrounded by these mountains is a dry, wind-swept desert whose parched, cracked surface has me in want of a big glass of cool water. I am an explorer of some sort and I have a team of friends that are accompanying me. We are lost. I feel I should know where we are, but I don't. I feel I let my team down and I'm incompetent. This angers me. I keep examining the area, hoping to find a way out, to recognize a path, anything to give us hope. The only thing I see for certain is that we are alone. There is absolutely no living creature to be seen except us. As I turn to my team to ask for suggestions, they disappear! Poof! Just like that! Baffled, an uneasiness slowly creeps through my body as if a I've been injected with a drug. I'm lost and now all alone. I then hear a slight rumbling sound in the distance. Within seconds, the sound becomes more ominous and frightening. I see what looks to be a small ball of dirty mist rising from the north end of the desert valley. It's moving! And fast! It's a mass of raging water! A Flood! I turn to seek higher ground but the rampaging waters are upon me before I can take even a step! I am swept up and sucked into their depths. Strangely enough, I feel a certain morbid peace engulf my mind as I wonder how long I can go without oxygen. Suddenly, I am washed on shore, cast out of the bowels of the torrent as if shot from a cannon! I gasp for air and attempt to regain my composure. I then hear the unmistakable sound of a crowd cheering. I am at some kind of sporting event. I look around to see myself right in the middle of my high school football field. I am on the sidelines. My mother is sitting in the stands just behind me shouting and smiling. I am still frazzled and somewhat dazed. I just want to be alone for a while so I stumble off the field and out of the stadium. I sit down on a small patch of grass and put my face into my hands with legs crossed in front of me. I am then approached by a boy I know from school. He is obsessed with me for some reason. He asks me if we could go somewhere private and talk. I reply, "Sure!" and follow him down a path. We reach a group of small hills that overlooks a huge pool of bubbling, greenish-brown toxic chemicals. It smells terrible and reminds me of a muddy swamp. We begin to climb up one of the hills. When we reach the halfway point of the hill, I suddenly feel nauseous and fall to the ground, clinging onto the root base of a bush as if I were going to fall to my death. After a minute of rest, I am startled by a bone-chilling scream very nearby. I look up and see my mother moving toward me! She has burning red eyes and some kind of spikes growing out of her skin! Her arms are waving and her hands are extended as if she is just about to strangle something... Me! She's almost upon me, screaming like a banshee! I turn to the boy I was with to see if he will help me, but he is nowhere to be seen. At this point I am really scared with not just a surface anxiety type of fear, but absolute dread and sheer terror! I rise to my feet and begin to run! I then stop dead in my tracks when I notice the entire population of the town is there on the hillside! They are all after me! They want to kill me! A few girls that I have never seen before quickly advance on my position. Two of them grab my arms and a third lifts me off the ground by my legs. They swing my helpless body to and fro, yelling and laughing, spitting and scratching. They toss me out and over the edge of the hill! I fall in slow motion into the thick muck of the toxic swamp. I feel my head smash against a rock as I enter the green goo with a hard splash. I slowly sink further and further into the stinky bubbling mass and see the light above me unassailably fade into blackness...

That's when I wake up. The dream may not be the scariest one you've ever heard, but it's a recent nightmare I've had, and the first one in which I've actually died.

NightMare # Title#4
Here's a weird one...

I usually sleep on the top portion of a set of bunk beds. For some strange reason, before I went to sleep one night, I had this funny feeling, maybe a premonition, that I shouldn't touch those steel bars that surround the bed. That feeling sort of scared me, so I tried very hard from then on to stay away from the steel supports. A few nights later, I was very tired when I went to bed and didn't realize my foot was laying on one of the bars as I quickly drifted off to sleep. Here is what happened in the dream...

I was dressed in a beautiful pink flowing gown. There was solid gold jewelry draped all over my body: necklaces, bracelets, rings and even my hair comb was forged in gold. I realized I was some sort of a royal princess, but of what kingdom or place remained unclear. It occurred to me that I should probably have an entourage at my beck and call ...so why was I alone? I appeared to be in the middle of a dark provincial forest. The abundant trees crept over the sun, blocking it from view. I heard a multitude of sounds and subtle rustlings one might associate as, "the whispers of nature." I must have been lost, for night was fast approaching and I could hear a crowd of people calling my name in the distance. I tried to answer back, but I was not able to utter as much as even a tiny whine from my prepossessed mouth. Suddenly it became very quiet, as if I were the only one there now. Confused, I wandered about for a few minutes until the dark of night impeded my progress. I then heard the distinct screams of what I thought was man in pain. His torturous cries echoed throughout the unheeding trees of the forest. Frightened, I commenced to blindly run though the woodland expanse. The gorgeous pink gown I thought so becoming, began to fade into this disgusting, mud green color, and all of my precious gold jewelry began to melt off my body! Disconcerted, I continued to run as fast as I could! I heard heavy-placed footsteps following close behind me and peeked over my shoulder to see what it was. I saw the silhouette of a man, but this man looked to be more of a beast than human. He was completely naked and had long flowing hair covering most of his body. The hair was brown and gray and wilderness balanced. Held within its strands were some small twigs and dried leaves, consistent with that of a wild animal living in an uncontrolled environment. I could also see that his skin was a pale brown color through the few small patches of baldness found over certain parts of his body. Although his face was indistinguishable due to the hair, his eyes appeared to be a bright green, almost lime green in color. I didn't notice any other of his features until he opened his mouth, letting loose a terrifying shriek and devilish snicker! As he gained ground on me, he displayed a horrifying set of salivating teeth, including several fang-like cuspids protruding from the rest. I continued to run! He was nearly upon me! Fearing the worst, I could feel the adrenaline pulsing through my veins, giving me more energy and strength! As I ran even faster, I thought surely I would now put some distance between myself and my pursuer. I again turned to see how far ahead of him I now was, and as I proceeded, I unexpectedly felt a firm jolt and sharp pain in my neck just as my head rotated over my shoulder! I fell to my knees, instantly weakened, head hanging, eyes to the ground. Blood cascaded onto my once exquisite dress, turning into a dark brown color as it mixed with the now green fabric. I could feel the wet warm flow of my life's fluid streaming down my arms and watched it puddle over the leaves covering the forrest soil. I was gently swaying back and forth, in shock, knowing I was dying. Then I was hit again! The fleshy part of my upper arm this time! Stunned, I could barely feel the pain of the continued attack. I was in shock I guess. Hit again! And once more! My hands, feet, thighs and breasts were being mauled by the hungry beast! As he ripped the quivering flesh from my body, my life flashed before my eyes. Finally, helpless and yielding to death, I slumped to the blood drenched ground into eternal darkness and silence...

I then found myself screaming into consciousness. It was 4 o'clock in the morning. My mother was in my room and said I had been screaming for several minutes. I guarantee you this, I will never let any part of my body touch those steel bed supports, ever again!

NightMare # Title#5
I have had these types of dreams repeatedly for the past 3 years. They aren't really scary, just realistic and confusing. They begin with an out of body experience...

I am looking at myself kneeling by the hospital bedside of a person very close to me. It is not always the same person. I begin to cry and beg that this person is not taken from me. As I am watching this, another person that I do not recognize, yet feel I know, enters the room. She is very beautiful and graceful, perhaps too beautiful to be human. I watch myself crying as the woman moves toward me. I don't see her clearly now, but I can feel her there, watching. The next thing I know, the person in the bed wakes up and tells me everything is going to be okay. Suddenly, the scene changes, and I am the one in the bed! Although I appear to be very healthy, I am very close to dying. My family is at my bedside. Tears are running down their faces. Again, the beautiful, graceful woman appears. None of my family members can see her. She is sitting at the end of my bed, looking at me. She then leans forward and enters my body. As I am watching this all take place, I feel very frightened, not knowing what is going on. It seems as if the woman has possessed me, but in a good way (if there is such a thing). She sits up, and in my voice, tells my family to not worry about me. I will be in a better place and will always remember the way they loved me and took care of me. This is when the tears disappear. Nobody knows what is happening. She then lays back down. As my mother tries to wake me up, the woman leaves my body, sits in a chair in the corner of the room and observes what happens next. One by one, my family and closest friends kneel by my side, touching a part of my body and praying. The woman then raises her arms and my soul lifts out of my body. My soul kisses the hand of each person in the room and slowly exits through the window.

My point of view now changes to the first person...

I am floating through the sky, just above some crowded rooftops. I am all alone. There are no signs of life, but certainly signs that life had recently existed. There are cars, homes and businesses, but no people. As I am trying to figure out what is going on, the beautiful woman appears to me once again. Like before, she slowly moves toward me, stopping in front of me. Although a bit uneasy, I remain still. She proceeds to touch my face, hair and body. It seems like she is examining me. She then speaks to me in a soothing, beautiful voice. She tells me she is my guardian angel and her name is Ariella. She has been my guardian angel since my best friend Rob had died. She was sent to watch over and protect me. I ask her what is going on with my current situation. She tells me that I had a rare disease that made me always appear healthy. However, it did have symptoms that nobody really noticed and it was just a matter of time before it became fatal. She then explains that everyone has their own personal heaven, noting that I need to find mine. She says that I will be able to travel through many places and find clues to my personal heaven. She also imparts that she will help me along the way. But, she says, as soon as I find my heaven, I will not be able to leave it. I do not understand what she means by "clues," but before I can ask her, she disappears. I am all alone again. As I begin to move around, I notice that people suddenly appear. They are laughing, talking and playing with each other. I see a house that looks exactly like my house in the distance. I walk up to the house and look through a window. I see my mom, dad, brother and grandmother in the living room. They are drinking lemonade and laughing with each other. I enter the house and try to speak to them. They don't respond to me. They can't hear me. I touch my mother's arm. She doesn't feel me there. I then touch my grandmother's arm. I know she feels this because she closes her eyes and puts her hand over mine. Almost as if she were sending a mental message, my grandmother speaks to me without moving her lips. She tells me she misses me and that she loves me. She also tells me that she knows I am there and that although she can't see me, she can feel my presence. As I am about to say something in return, I am whisked away to my grandmother's house. Ariella appears. She explains that there is a clue in my grandmother's house concerning my personal heaven. I ask her what it is and her reply is simply to look at everything familiar to me. I again do not understand what she is telling me. She quickly disappears before I can ask. As I go through my grandmother's house, I recognize a book my grandmother used to read to me constantly when I was the age of 4. I then have a flashback ...I see myself sitting in my grandmother's lap, eating cookies as she reads to me from the book.

My dream usually ends there. I know I was dreaming, but it was so realistic, I'm never quite sure...
